In a case out of DeKalb County, a man rescued another from a burning vehicle while also helping to detain a driver who was allegedly trying to flee the scene. According to the news, the witness saw the crash happen when a truck ran a red light and hit a 21-year-old man’s vehicle.
The young man was trapped in his vehicle, which went down into an embankment. The vehicle caught on fire, so the witness quickly worked to get him out of the vehicle. Then, the vehicle exploded.
What about the driver of the truck?
The driver of the truck, 26, allegedly got ready to leave the scene, but the witness stopped him. He took away his gun and prevented him from going. He was also injured, but the reports didn’t say how severely.
Fortunately, the man who was trapped in his vehicle survived and is in intensive care. The driver of the truck was arrested on charges including DUI. The authorities reported that the man was so intoxicated that the patrol car was left smelling of it after the man was placed inside.
